Abstract
⺠Tigutcystatin inhibits Trypanosoma cruzi cysteine proteases with high specificity. ⺠Tigutcystatin expression is up-regulated in response to T. cruzi infection. ⺠It is the first cysteine proteases inhibitor characterized from a triatomine insect.
