Abstract

âº Adiponectin promotes hyaluronan synthesis along with an increase in HAS2 transcripts. âº Adiponectin also increases the phosphorylation of AMPK. âº A pharmacological activator of AMPK increases mRNA levels of PPARÎ± and HAS2. âº Adiponectin-induced HAS2 mRNA expression is blocked by a PPARÎ± antagonist. âº Adiponectin promotes hyaluronan synthesis via an AMPK/PPARÎ±-dependent pathway.
