Abstract
⺠Adiponectin promotes hyaluronan synthesis along with an increase in HAS2 transcripts. ⺠Adiponectin also increases the phosphorylation of AMPK. ⺠A pharmacological activator of AMPK increases mRNA levels of PPARα and HAS2. ⺠Adiponectin-induced HAS2 mRNA expression is blocked by a PPARα antagonist. ⺠Adiponectin promotes hyaluronan synthesis via an AMPK/PPARα-dependent pathway.
