Abstract
⺠A line of transgenic mice is established to express constitutively active AMPK-α1 in liver. ⺠Activation of AMPK in liver causes marked compensatory increase in lipogenesis in adipose tissue. ⺠Adipose tissue plays an adaptive role in fat synthesis when the synthesis is reduced in liver.
