Abstract
⺠Fibrinogen (Fg) binding to endothelial ICAM-1 downregulates VE-cadherin expression. ⺠This effect of Fg occurs through activation of MMP-9. ⺠Fg-induced activation of MMP-9 disrupts endothelial cell layer junctional integrity. ⺠Fg-induced activation of MMP-9 causes detachment of endothelial cells from matrix.
