Abstract
⺠Imidazoline I1 receptor (IR1) is involved in suppression of sympathetic outflow. ⺠We determine cellular mechanism of IR1-induced sympatholytic effect in superior cervical ganglion neurons. ⺠Activation of IR1 in SCG neurons reduce ICa-N in rat and this inhibition lead to attenuation of repetitive AP firing in SCG neurons. ⺠These results suggest for the first time cellular mechanisms for pharmacological effects of IR1 activation in peripheral sympathetic nervous system.
