Abstract
⺠All SIK isoforms are expressed in lung cells and tissue from human, mouse and rat. ⺠SIK1 mediates the increase in sodium transport in response to isoproterenol. ⺠SIK1 is activated by isoproterenol. ⺠SIK1 is needed to activate the Na+, K+-ATPase in response to isoproterenol. ⺠SIK1 is needed for the transport of Na+, K+-ATPase to the plasma membrane.
