Serine496 of β2 subunit of L-type Ca2+ channel participates in molecular crosstalk between activation of (Na++K+)-ATPase and the channel

► Activation of (Na++K+)-ATPase induces phosphorylation of Ca2+ channel β2 Ser496. ► Src and Erk1/2 signaling cascade is linked to β2 Ser496 phosphorylation. ► Phosphorylation of β2 Ser496 attenuates the activity of α1 subunit of the channel. ► Inhibition of (Na++K+)-ATPase does not cause phosphorylation on β2 Ser496.
