► Diguanylate cyclase TpbB of Pseudomonas aeruginosa is phosphorylated at Ser/Thr and Tyr residues. ► Tyrosine phosphatase TpbA of P. aeruginosa is a dual specific tyrosine phosphatase. ► Tyr phosphatase TpbA dephosphorylates diguanylate cyclase TpbB to control the rugose phenotype.
