Abstract
⺠A novel lipase, Nceh1 is involved in the cholesterol homeostasis in adrenal glands. ⺠Nceh1 and Lipe are the major cholesterol ester hydrolases in adrenal glands. ⺠Deficiency of Nceh1 and/or Lipe causes lipid accumulation in adrenal glands ⺠Deficiency of these two lipases causes adrenal enlargement. ⺠Deficiency of the lipases does not affect ACTH-stimulated corticosterone secretion.
