Abstract
⺠Pannexins are glycoproteins that form functional single membrane channels. ⺠ATP-release via Panx1 is involved in normal physiological functions and disease states. ⺠Panx2 regulates differentiation in neurons and can be palmitoylated. ⺠Panx3 plays a role in development of skin, bone, sperm and cartilage. ⺠Four Panx1-KO mice have been developed to study its role in lung, brain, and immune system.
