Abstract
⺠Connexins (Cxs) and gap junctions are involved in atherogenesis. ⺠Cx expression and function are regulated in all cell types involved in atherosclerosis. ⺠Cx37 and Cx40 are atheroprotective proteins; the role of Cx43 is less clear. ⺠A polymorphism in the human Cx37 gene is a prognostic marker for CAD.
