Abstract
► T-type calcium channels mediate calcium entry near the resting membrane potential. ► Increasing evidence supports a role of T-type channels in low-threshold exocytosis. ► We review their implication in vesicular neurotransmitter release. ► We propose a mechanism by which T-type channels trigger vesicular exocytosis.
