► Hybrid oligomers of daptomycin and NBD-labeled daptomycin were generated. ► FRET between daptomycin and NBD-labeled daptomycin was analyzed. ► The extent of FRET indicates an oligomer subunit stoichiometry of 6-7 subunits.
