Abstract
⺠A novel function attributed to TNTs is the long-range spread of electrical signals. ⺠This function depends on the presence of connexons interposed into the TNT connection. ⺠The transmitted signals activate low voltage calcium channels in recipient cells. ⺠This results in transient calcium signals by local influx of calcium.
