Abstract
⺠A novel aquaglyceroporin ApAQP2 has been identified in the pea aphid A. pisum. ⺠ApAQP2 is a member of an insect-specific clade of the AQP gene family. ⺠Members of this clade have unusual pore selectivity sequences. ⺠ApAQP2 transports a diverse set of substrates including water and multiple polyols. ⺠ApAQP2 is expressed predominantly in symbiotic bacteriocyte and fat body tissues.
