Abstract
⺠The 4-Toluene Sulfonate Uptake Permease (TSUP) family is ubiquitous in nature. ⺠Uptake of sulfur-containing compounds is mediated by members of the TSUP family. ⺠No bioinformatic characterization of this family of porters has yet been described. ⺠We here demonstrate that these proteins arose by intragenic duplication of 4 TMSs. ⺠Phylogeny, motifs, topologies and functional predictions are described herein.
