Abstract
⺠Most transferrin proteins have a common two-lobed structure. ⺠Some have between one and three homologous lobes, sometimes with other augmentation. ⺠These unusual transferrins occur sporadically from algae to mammals. ⺠They sometimes have functions other than iron binding.
