Abstract
⺠This is the first identified canonical phototropin from a marine alga. ⺠I43V mutation accelerates dark state recovery by more than 10 folds. ⺠I43S mutant reduces photosensitivity and chromophore binding. ⺠Salt bridge between E60 and K101 is dispensable. ⺠Dimerization of OtLOV1 is manifested by hydrophobic interactions.
