Abstract
► Bothrops alternatus snake venom causes renal dysfunction in rats. ► This dysfunction is accompanied by marked renal structural alterations. ► Na+/K+-ATPase expression and activity are enhanced during early renal damage. ► Enhanced Na+/K+-ATPase activity may attenuate renal dysfunction after envenoming.
