Abstract

âº Bothrops alternatus snake venom causes renal dysfunction in rats. âº This dysfunction is accompanied by marked renal structural alterations. âº Na+/K+-ATPase expression and activity are enhanced during early renal damage. âº Enhanced Na+/K+-ATPase activity may attenuate renal dysfunction after envenoming.
