Abstract
⺠Bothrops alternatus snake venom causes renal dysfunction in rats. ⺠This dysfunction is accompanied by marked renal structural alterations. ⺠Na+/K+-ATPase expression and activity are enhanced during early renal damage. ⺠Enhanced Na+/K+-ATPase activity may attenuate renal dysfunction after envenoming.
