Abstract
⺠OPA1 is the best characterized mitochondrial fusion protein. ⺠Its structure and function are evolutionarily conserved. ⺠A complex proteolytic cascade governs its role in mitochondria dynamics, apoptosis, and quality control. ⺠The recently proposed localization of OPA1 on the lipid droplets, and function as an AKAP, remains controversial.
