Abstract
► Glucose induces phosphorylation of PDH in INS-1E cells and islets. ► Glucose-induced PDH E1α phosphorylation is mainly mediated by PDK1 and PDK3. ► Glucose stimulation causes a partial inhibition of pyruvate dehydrogenase activity. ► Preventing PDH E1α phosphorylation does not alter glucose-induced insulin secretion.
