Abstract

âº Scleraxis regulates collagen 1Î±2 gene expression in cardiac fibroblasts. âº Scleraxis interacts with E box sites in the human proximal collagen 1Î±2 promoter. âº Collagen 1Î±2 expression is synergistically regulated by scleraxis and Smad3. âº A dominant negative scleraxis mutant blocks collagen gene expression by TGF-Î²1.
