Abstract
												⺠The mitochondrial translation system is very different from that of bacteria or eukaryotic cytosol. ⺠In yeast, protein synthesis depends on mRNA-specific translational activators. ⺠Feedback loops ensure that only proteins that can be assembled are synthesized. ⺠This avoids the accumulation of potentially harmful assembly intermediates.
