Abstract
⺠Psychrophilic, ectothermic, homeothermic and thermophilic α-amylases were analyzed. ⺠The thermodynamic stability increases with the environmental/physiological temperature. ⺠Kinetics and activations parameters are adapted to the corresponding thermal regime. ⺠An evolutionary compromise between structural dynamics and activity is proposed.
