Abstract
⺠Ubiquinone and carotenoids may share common functionality and oxidative pathways. ⺠Carotenoids may undergo sequential oxidation in the inner mitochondria. ⺠Coq enzymes may ketolate, O-methylate and saturate carotenoids to ornaments. ⺠Mitochondria oxidation may link signal honesty with redox and energy efficiency.
