Abstract
► Membrane function needs fluidity which is reached through changes in lipid composition. ► Alpha-tocopherol and PUFA-containing phospholipids co-localize in non-raft domains. ► Cholesterol and fatty acids adjust the transport and diffusion of oxygen in membranes. ► Non-raft matrix will be more sensible to lipid peroxidation than raft domains. ► Lipid peroxidation products in the non-raft matrix change the properties of membranes.
