Abstract
► Teleost-type angiotensin components were identified in the buccal gland of two lamprey species. ► The amount of angiotensin components in the buccal gland is highly correlated to the feeding stimuli. ► The teleost-type angiotensin components in lamprey are not produced by angiotensinogen but some other precursor proteins. ► The angiotensin components in the buccal gland could be an adaptation for the endocrine mimicry in a blood-feeding life.
