Abstract
► We identify the HSP90 protein as a novel interaction partner for GABARAPL1. ► Amino-acids 1 to 22 of GABARAPL1 are important for the interaction with HSP90. ► GABARAPL1 and HSP90 partially colocalize in rat brain and in MCF-7 cells. ► 17-AAG promotes proteasome-dependent degradation of GABARAPL1. ► GABARAPL1 is a new HSP90 client protein.
