Abstract
⺠Hydrosoluble perylene diimides (HPDIs) contain a perylene moiety and different numbers of positively charged side chains. ⺠HPDIs bind specifically to G-quadruplex structures. ⺠Telomerase repeat addition processivity is inhibited upon stabilization of G-quadruplexes by HPDIs.
