Abstract
⺠Angeli's Salt (AS) releases nitroxyl (HNO), which acutely activates GLUT1. ⺠A maximum 7-fold activation occurs at 5 mM AS within 2-3 min ⺠HNO stimulation can be blocked by a pretreatment with thiol-reactive compounds. ⺠HNO likely stimulates a disulfide bond within GLUT1, which activates the transporter.
