Abstract
⺠βγ-CAT is a frog complex of βγ-crystallin and trefoil factor. ⺠We characterized the biochemical properties of βγ-CAT. ⺠The βγ-crystallin domains of the protein bind the trefoil factor. ⺠The βγ-crystallin domains of the protein are able to bind calcium. ⺠βγ-CAT-induced hemolysis was calcium-dependent.
