Abstract
⺠Protein folding activity of the ribosome resides in the 23S rRNA of the 50S subunit. ⺠Two antiprion drugs 6AP and GA specifically arrest this function of the ribosome. ⺠These drugs competitively inhibit the substrate protein from binding to the ribosome. ⺠As a result, the yield of refolding gets compromised but the rate remains unaffected. ⺠We also estimated the time-span for interaction between the ribosome and the protein.
