Abstract
► The cell responds to a UV insult by activating both DNA repair and cellular “checkpoints”. ► DDB1 could not only contribute to the activation of DNA repair mechanisms but may respond to mild UV injury and thus influence p27Kip1 turnover. ► DDB1 could be a factor that maintains the balance between NER, through DDB2 interaction, and cell cycle progression as a component of E3 ligase complexes.
