Aberrant association between vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 and VE-cadherin in response to vascular endothelial growth factor-a in Shb-deficient lung endothelial cells

► The abnormal Shb knockout mouse vascular permeability was currently investigated. ► Shb knockout endothelial cells showed reduced VEGF-A stimulated migration. ► Abnormal VEGFR-2 and VE-cadherin co-localization was noted in Shb knockout cells. ► This may partly be explained by reduced VEGF-A stimulated ERK/Akt/Rac1 activity. ► The findings increase our knowledge of mechanisms regulating vascular permeability.
