Abstract
► Extensive BMP signaling in healthy adult kidney, proximal tubule in mouse, distal tubule in human. ► BMP 2 is expressed in the proximal tubule. ► Transcriptional profiling shows BMP2 and BMP7 elicit indistinguishable responses. ► A cassette of Notch target genes is induced in proximal tubule cells by BMP signaling. ► Notch response gene HEY1 suppresses BMP2 expression in proximal tubule cells.
