Abstract
⺠Challenge to efficiently use information from experimentally characterized proteins to annotate the output of large sequencing projects. ⺠Structural information combined with bioinformatics is one of the key strategies for achieving improved annotations. ⺠Currently can apply annotations to significant proportion of gene products, but complete coverage is by no means accomplished. ⺠Begin to be able to address challenges in annotating the biophysical and functional consequences of nsSNPs from population sequencing projects. ⺠In combination with sequence and chemistry relationships begin to improve the detailed functional annotations of enzymes.
