Abstract
⺠We examine biochemical and cellular properties of tumor-specific Pol β variant D160N. ⺠D160N is an active polymerase that binds DNA and functions in base excision repair. ⺠D160N expression in vivo results in cellular transformation. ⺠D160N is a mutator that generates template-directed complex tandem mutations.
