Abstract
⺠Neurons require nerve growth factor (NGF) for survival during hypoxia. ⺠Pericytes, abundantly present in the brain, can produce multiple neurotrophins. ⺠Brain pericytes increase neutrotrophin-3 production during hypoxia. ⺠Astrocytes respond to neutrotrophin-3 to increase NGF expression.
