Abstract
⺠Acetazolamide intake by healthy subjects increases urinary nitrite excretion. ⺠Renal carbonic anhydrases are involved in nitrite reabsorption. ⺠Nitrite reacts with carbon dioxide. ⺠Carbonic anhydrases may potentially catalyze this reaction. ⺠Renal carbonic anhydrases may modulate NO homeostasis in the circulation.
