Abstract
⺠Prolactin was studied in mice with genetic manipulation of the melanocortin system. ⺠Mice with MSH overexpression (Tg-MSH) and AgRP deletion (AgRP KO) were utilized. ⺠Baseline and stress-induced blood prolactin levels were reduced in Tg-MSH vs. WT. ⺠Blood and pituitary prolactin levels were reduced in AgRP KO vs. WT. ⺠Differences in hypothalamic tyrosine hydroxylase and dopamine were not detected.
