Abstract
⺠Peptidomic analysis of skin secretions of the tetraploid frog Silurana epitropicalis has led to characterization of 10 antimicrobial peptides of the magainin, PGLa, CPF, and XPF families. ⺠Nonfunctionalization of antimicrobial peptides genes has occurred following polyploidization in the Siluran lineage. ⺠CPF-SE2 and CPF-SE3 show therapeutic potential for treatment of MRSA skin infections.
