Abstract
⺠Our study provides physiological roles of DNP on renal function, i.e. DNP has more effective renal functions than ANP, possibly because of the degradation resistance of DNP against the endogenous peptidases in plasma or tissues. ⺠Glomeruli are the most favorable cellular site in the kidney for cGMP production by DNP via activation of particulate guanylyl cyclase (GC). ⺠Our study adds incremental new information to characterize the renal function of DNP which plays a pivotal role as a renal regulating peptide via specific natriuretic peptide receptors with a guanylyl cyclase domain.
