Abstract
⺠The childhood obesity epidemic compromises the health of the pediatric population by promoting premature development of atherosclerosis and metabolic syndrome. ⺠Given the involvement of CNP in these conditions it becomes extremely important to have age-specific reference intervals for this peptide. ⺠The present study reports the reference intervals for CNP plasma levels measured in healthy children (0-12 years). ⺠According to data obtained, at least 5 different reference intervals should be used: 0-3 days, 4-30 days, 1-12 months, 1-12 years and adults.
