Abstract
⺠The role of gastrin-releasing peptide released from primary afferent on itch was demonstrated. ⺠Gastrin-releasing peptide elicits scratching, an itch-related response, in mice though BB2 bombesin receptor. ⺠Gastrin-releasing peptide-induced scratching is inhibited by H1 histamine receptor antagonists and PAR2 proteinase-activated receptor antagonist. ⺠Gastrin-releasing peptide-induced scratching may be elicited through the activation of mast cells.
