Abstract
⺠Angiotensin II (Ang II)-induced constriction was evaluated in mesenteric venules and portal vein of hypertensive rats (SHR). ⺠In SHR portal vein, Ang II-constriction was reduced when compared to normotensive Wistar rats. ⺠AT2 receptor protein expression and mRNA levels were reduced in portal vein from SHR. ⺠In SHR, Ang II venoconstriction was mediated by AT1 receptors and was counterbalanced by kinin B2 receptor and COX metabolites. ⺠Different cellular and molecular mechanisms are involved in the venous control of normotensive and hypertensive rats.
