Abstract
► Anxiety disorders are more prevalent in females. ► Metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs) are linked to anxiety. ► We examined the role of amygdala group I mGluR in ovariectomized rats with and without estradiol replacement in female anxiety. ► Activation of amygdala group I mGluRs in estradiol-treated rats produces anxiolytic-like effects.
