► SP-8203 has antagonist effects of NMDA receptor as a potential therapeutic drug for stroke. ► SP-8203 shows neuroprotecitive effects through blocking calcium influx through NMDA receptor. ► SP-8203 also improves memory impairment unlikely the other NMDA receptor antagonists.
