Characterizing the subjective and psychomotor effects of carisoprodol in healthy volunteers

► Carisoprodol at a supratherapeutic dose of 700 mg had several subjective effects. ► At a therapeutic dose of 350 mg the drug only had minimal subjective effects. ► In contrast, both doses of carisoprodol impaired psychomotor performance. ► Patients prescribed the therapeutic dose might feel “normal” but be impaired.
