► Evaluated chronic fatigue in lupus-prone mice at three different time periods. ► Extends research that has looked at acute fatigue using animal models. ► MRL/lpr mice spent more time floating during the forced swim test. ► MRL/lpr mice traveled less distance in the running wheel at each testing period. ► Lupus-prone mice appeared to experience chronic fatigue state. ► Future assessments needed to show fatigue is distinct from depressive-like state.
