Abstract
► Harmane, harmine and norharmane are β-carboline compounds. ► Effect of these compounds on apomorphine-induced licking was studied in rats. ► Harmane, harmine and norharmane significantly reduced the licking behavior. ► The effects were prevented in rats treated by flumazenil but not by reserpine. ► The results indicated an involvement of benzodiazepinergic system.
